Who am I? Well, I’m an ordinary wife and mother living in a quiet town in Canada. On the surface, my life blends in with everyone else’s…but my past contains a lot of extraordinary challenges, lessons, and obstacles I continue to battle. Life in my twenties was a colourful tale of stories and adventures as I navigated most of them as an ambitious, single young lady.
I’m a writer by profession: a Copywriter and Journalist with over a decade of experience as a published author. Finding full-time work in my field can be quite competitive, especially since I live in a small town far away from the big city. Despite this, I hold onto the hope that my writing will take me somewhere someday. For now, my responsibilities as a wife and a new mother keep me grounded.
I traded blogs about meeting world travelers and hitchhiking around a country for an entire year, to ones about ‘wife hacks’ to house train your husband, and nostalgic pieces about lingo we used in the hip-hop days of the 2000s.
I eloped when I was 28, literally the day the World Health Organization declared a pandemic. Married life is much less thrilling than navigating the rough waters of single adulthood; some days I miss the freedom, but I do not envy the challenges of dating apps, or fishing the slim pickings and baggage in the 30+ sea.
We finally got our baby boy after years of fertility struggles in September 2023. Our son has given our lives a purpose and a reason to plant roots. We are back in my hometown, minutes away from his grandparents. The wanderlust in me still likes to daydream of an exotic location where our forever home might be.
Mummyhood takes up way more of my time than I imagined, but I try to hash out a blog every now and then. When I’m not changing a diaper or sanitizing bottles, I keep track of my thoughts on the notes on my phone to keep myself entertained.
Nothing can truly prepare you for adulthood. If you feel like you’re still too young to carry the responsibilities of a 30+-year-old, you’ve come to the right place. Come “figure out our thirties” with me!
